We read about the Damascus road this morning. Paul met Jesus and starts preaching about Christ in Damascus immediately upon his recovery. I’ll remind you of Paul briefly. Paul, his Hebrew name was Saul. He was born around 5 CE. He enjoyed Roman citizenship with its benefits and protection. He probably came from a pretty wealthy family. Growing up in the ancient and prosperous city of Tarsus, he received an excellent education and became an outstanding young leader among the Pharisees. He was one of those who were zealous in defending Jewish tradition. Also as we read in the Gospel narratives, the Pharisees are known as protectors of tradition and Paul was in the group.
